It is said that 65% of all American adults are overweight. That is over half the population! Chances are if you are reading this you would like to drop a few pounds yourself. Getting started on a healthy diet plan will bring you huge benefits in the long run. Follow these five quick weight loss tips and you can lose off a couple pounds with little work whatsoever!

Fiber

Most Americans do not have enough dietary fiber in their diet. It is recommended that you have at least 25g of fiber each day. Foods such as whole wheat bread, nuts, and bran are all high in fiber. I typically like to take in fiber in the morning via bran cereal.

Breakfast

Not eating breakfast when trying to lose weight is a huge mistake! Eating a healthy, balanced breakfast in the morning not only jump starts your metabolism but it makes you feel less sluggish and lethargic throughout the day.

Water

Drinking water is an important part of weight loss. You need at least 8 glasses of water per day. Drinking water also suppresses hunger so you won't pack on extra pounds from snacking.

Lose the Snacks

By replacing unhealthy snacks with water you will decrease your caloric intake. If you still feel the need to snack through out the day try carrying around a piece of fruit or foods labeled with "Smart Choice" on the package.

Push Ups

Right when you get out of bed try doing 25 push ups. This will not only get you on the right track for the day but it will burn a lot of calories over time!
